Today we have received an answer from the university’s history department, telling us that we can come see a lecture Tuesday morning at 9 am and then afterwards talk with one of the professors – Anne Dolan. So today we are going to write her an answer, and find out if we have to read any “homework” for the lecture we are attending.

Problemstatement:

What is the difference between the two writers Samuel Beckett and Jonathan Swift? And how did the society they each lived in influence their writing? How is the literature in Ireland today?

•       What characterized Samuel Beckett’s style of writing and the era he lived in’s history of literature?

•        What characterized Jonathan Swift’s style of writing and the era he lived in’s history of literature?

•        What is it like, being an author in Ireland today?

•        Do many Irishmen want to be an author today? And are there many books being written in Irish?

The rest of the day we are going to work on our presentation, which we have to present when we get back from Ireland and our Easter holiday.
